Transforming Sustainability Education with PlanetWise CMS

PlanetWise CMS has been integrated into the Environment and Sustainability Management course structure at Republic Polytechnic, Singapore, bringing real-world sustainability management practices directly into the learning environment.

The integration enables learners to move beyond theoretical concepts and gain hands-on experience in GHG inventory development, sustainability reporting, and corporate sustainability management using a practical, technology-enabled approach.

PlanetWise CMS provides a simulated corporate environment where candidates can experience activities similar to those undertaken by a professional sustainability team. Through practical assignments and case studies, learners can work with sustainability data, understand GHG accounting processes, prepare inventories, and develop sustainability reporting outputs.

The Trainer Module enables trainers to create and provide case studies, assignments, and practical exercises for candidates. Trainers can monitor and evaluate candidate performance, providing a structured mechanism to assess both their understanding and practical application of sustainability concepts.

PlanetWise follows a Train-the-Trainer (ToT) approach to support long-term capacity building. PlanetWise experts initially provide knowledge transfer and platform training to faculty or designated trainers. Once the trainers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills, they can independently conduct subsequent practical sessions for candidates.

This creates a scalable and sustainable learning model, enabling institutions to continuously build sustainability capabilities among successive cohorts of learners.
