Accelerating Scope 3 Decarbonization with PlanetWise CMS

The CII Net-Zero Program, launched by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), aims to "steer decarbonization pathways by enabling companies and corporates to commit and accelerate actions towards Net-Zero emissions."

A key focus of the initiative is sustainable supply chain transformation, recognising that value-chain emissions — particularly Scope 3 emissions — represent a significant part of the decarbonization challenge for many businesses.

PlanetWise has collaborated with CII as a technology partner for the CII Net-Zero Program, providing the digital infrastructure required to engage companies and their suppliers in systematic GHG emissions reporting.

Through PlanetWise CMS, programme signatories and their suppliers are onboarded onto a common digital platform, enabling suppliers to report their GHG emissions through the Supplier Engagement Module.

The platform enables supplier-level emissions data to be collected, processed, and allocated using GHG Protocol-based procedures.

Emissions associated with Purchased Goods and Services (Scope 3, Category 1) can then be incorporated into the signatory company's Scope 3 inventory, enabling organisations to maintain a more dynamic view of their value-chain emissions.

This digital approach helps move organisations from periodic, manual supplier data collection towards a structured and continuously updated Scope 3 emissions management system.

With supplier-level emissions data available through PlanetWise CMS, signatory companies can gain greater visibility into the environmental performance of their supply chain.
